Project Overview

Our project illuminates trends in global assassination attempts in 2019-2020. We examined the effects of countries’ politics, economics, and national security—among other factors—on the number of assassination attempts as well as the survival rate and prevention rate.

Why is it important?

Our project is highly relevant because although assassination attempts are uncommon in the United States, they are much more frequent in developing nations with more political instability and weaker national security. Illuminating trends in assassination attempts allows governments to better understand what makes citizens more susceptible to violence and how they can better prevent and prepare for attacks.

Audience

Our project is primarily intended for politicians and governments because insights on assassination attempts are critical to making policy and security decisions. However, anyone with an interest in the impact of politics, economics, and national security on violence could learn from our project.
